Client Portal for an Insurance Agent

Client Portal for an Insurance Agent

Created by Marcus Brown

Overview

Marcus Brown, an independent insurance agent, needed a way to manage client requests more efficiently. His clients often had to file claims, check their claim status, or request policy updates — all of which used to happen via email, phone calls, or even WhatsApp messages. This manual process was not only time-consuming but also prone to errors, sometimes leading to delays or missed responses.

With Instance, Marcus built a centralized client portal that brings everything into one place. The portal allows clients to submit claims, track their progress, and request changes quickly and securely. This streamlined approach improves response times, reduces stress for Marcus, and gives clients a more professional and reliable experience.

The Build Journey

Marcus was surprised by how quickly he could get started.

“I had a first version running in just a few minutes. Getting the whole portal ready took me about 3–4 days, but that was mostly because I spent extra time on design”

He began by writing a detailed prompt that included the essential features: user login, claim tracking, and address updates. He told Instance to start with simple first versions, knowing he could refine them later. Each iteration brought him closer to his vision, and Instance handled most of the heavy lifting.

Design and Branding

One of Marcus’s priorities was making the portal feel like a natural extension of his business. The initial version generated by Instance was more polished than he expected, giving him inspiration for layout and style.

From there, Marcus customized the look and feel, adding his brand colors, logo, and messaging. This extra effort paid off — the finished portal feels personal and professional, reflecting the level of service he offers his clients.

Complex Features Made Simple

The most challenging part of the project was implementing user logins securely, which was critical for protecting sensitive client data.

Instead of building a full sign-up flow, Marcus opted to manually create accounts for each client. This matched his existing process of uploading client policies and documents, and gave him control over who had access.

Instance made it easy to set up the technical side of login and authentication, so Marcus didn’t have to write any code himself.

No Coding Required

Marcus doesn’t write code, and with Instance he didn’t have to. The app is built with React under the hood, but all of the coding was handled automatically.

His role was to guide the process through prompts, edit text, and refine the design until it matched his brand.

“I don’t code and wouldn’t know how to. Instance handled everything. I only edited some text and branding, but the app itself is built in React, which I have no experience with”
